Ramatu Yunus, a mother of two
children on Tuesday dragged her husband to the Magajin Gari Sharia Court,
asking the court to determine her marital status.
Yunus who currently resides in Rigasa, Kaduna State claims that since she returned to Kaduna after the demolition of their house in Abuja, her husband, Nuraddeen Shehu, had abandoned her and the children.
Shehu had allegedly asked her to return to her parents house.
"I went to his parent's house, I told them that since we came back to Kaduna nobody is taking care of us", she said.
"Please they should talk to him. I told them even in Abuja he does not take care of us, he does no pay his children school fees and did not feed us",Yumus added.
Her Husband, Shehu did not appear in court, however his younger brother, Abdulrahman Shehu, who was present, told the court that the summon was served on their father.
"We have not seen my elder brother for over two years, that is why my father asked me to come to court because he is too old", Shehu said.
Shehu further told the court his father had resolved a similar issue between the accused and complainant a few years back and since then the family had not set eyes on him.
Khadi Ibrahim Muhammad, presiding judge adjourned the case till 30 September and threatened to arrest the accused if he failed to appear in court.
